If I can encourage even one person to workout, weight lift, and take better care of their body with this picture, that is what I intend to do! We mothers often put everyone’s needs before our own. I never took the time to workout regularly after I had two little ones. But after my third child, and feeling particularly out of shape, I took matters into my own hands and decided to join a gym and get a trainer. That trainer was the first chapter of me learning to push myself and overcoming my fatigue due to sleepless nights and breastfeeding. A hidden consequence of that was strengthening my mind and spirit as well. I became happier, and felt better. Just being away from my responsibilities for an hour freed me and awoken the urge to be with my children. You can’t miss your children if you’re constantly with them. My gym habit has become such an integrated part of my life that I feel lost without it. It’s my form of meditation. I shut off from all the worries and responsibilities of the world, look at myself straight in the mirror and dance, move, stretch, and lift with the music. I truly believe a fit momma is a happy momma. Being fit doesn’t mean being skinny. It means fighting for your health and focusing on bettering yourself day by day and little by little. So take some time for yourself and “detox” from all your worries.
I’m not perfect and may never be, but striving for perfection is my goal and mission!
What have you done for your mind, body, and soul today?

If you’re anything like me and have a big sweet tooth, you are digging every corner of your house looking for something sugary and sweet in the afternoon as a pick-me-up. Most times I will allow myself a treat. But today, after realizing that the scale is not working to my favor recently (damn thing must be broken 😉 ), and after a super hard workout at the gym, I decided to be good. So I satisfied that sweet tooth without going crazy on carbs with a healthy chocolate protein shake.
1. 1 cup of unsweetened Almond Milk
2. Half a cup of ice
3. 2 scoops of Organic Protein (I got this from Costco)
4. A teaspoon of Chia seeds (again, purchased from Costco)
5. A sprinkle of Goji berries on top
Blend ingredients 1-4 and sprinkle with Goji Berries and enjoy (Noosheh jan konid)! I usually add a handful of spinach as well, but I forgot today 🙂
Looking for a fast, healthy, and easy lunch/dinner recipe? Well look no further! This easy, and healthy fast food was inspired from a Coscto sample. Thanks Costco!
Just heat the salmon fillets in a skillet for 4-5 mins on each side. I added a pinch of salt and pepper to the fillets. Then I assembled them on the sandwich thins with cheese, lettuce, and tomato with a side of cucumbers. No mayo or frills needed. This tasted so delish and was ready in 10 mins!
Best part was that my kids gobbled it up and asked me to make it again tomorrow. I call that a Persian Momma success story. Happy weekend folks 🙂
I recently picked up a box of these chocolates at Costco after sampling them there and what a mistake! Not only because, well, I shouldn’t really be indulging in chocolate anyways. It doesn’t do anything for my waistline, but also it’s full of unnecessary chemicals and newer questionable ones that I’ve never even heard of!
It seems that even the red m&m on the wrapper was warning me to stay away! The second ingredient listed is PGPR. What the hell is PGPR and why is it in my chocolate? Shouldn’t chocolate really just be a few ingredients (chocolate, cocoa powder, cocoa butter, and sugar)?
So basically here’s what I found:

With the kids back in school, and the seasons shifting, we are bound to welcome the cold and flu into our homes again through our little carriers, our children. So I thought I’d share some of my favorite remedies to help ease the pain while the cold/flu runs its course. Disclaimer: I am not an M.D. (although as a Persian Momma I often do take that role and dispense unwanted free medical advice (which has happened to prove great so far!)).
For common colds/flu and associated coughs and even croup (khoroosak خروسك) here are my four favorite products that I always have on hand:

With summer coming to an end and people trying to make the most out of their last few weeks in the sun, it’s a good time to educate ourselves about Lyme Disease.
Ten Facts You Should Know About Lyme Disease
- Lyme disease is caused by bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi that is only transmitted to humans when they are bitten by an infected tick.
- To infect its host, a tick typically must be attached to the skin for at least 36 hours.
