Who doesn’t love some summer time fun in the sun… um, I mean fun in the garage?
If you avoid crafts because of the mess, here’s a genius way (thanks to my friend who shared it earlier on Facebook today) of keeping the kids entertained while avoiding the catastrophic mess Thanks Jean!
Since I got inspired last minute and we don’t have any “real” crafts to do, we are just painting whatever we could get our hands on (empty boxes, paper, gift bags, etc.). The kids don’t seem to mind, so who am I to say anything? 😉
Persian Momma’s vodka drinking habits have paid off! Just kidding!! Those are Costco cartons. Really!
Today was one of those days when you have the funniest and sweetest conversation with your child, the ones you promise to remember forever, and keep stored in your memory to share with them as they grow older, but surely forget. So, in order not to forget it, I am sharing it here with the world!
Today, after a potty break in the bathroom stall at a department store, my 3.5 year old son, Omid, turns around and in astonishment asks me: “Mommy, no you have doodool?” (Meaning, you don’t have a doodool (penis)?)
Me: “No, I don’t have a doodool. Girls don’t have a doodool.”
Omid: “Nikki have no doodool?” (Nikki is his sister. Obviously he’s concerned about her not having a penis as well)
Me: “No, Nikki doesn’t have a doodool.”
Omid, further connecting the dots: “Daddy have a doodool?”
And today, July 10th 2014 marks the momentous occasion of my son’s epiphany and realization of human anatomy. Congrats my son! You’re on your way to becoming a real boy 😉
If you’re anything like me and have a big sweet tooth, you are digging every corner of your house looking for something sugary and sweet in the afternoon as a pick-me-up. Most times I will allow myself a treat. But today, after realizing that the scale is not working to my favor recently (damn thing must be broken 😉 ), and after a super hard workout at the gym, I decided to be good. So I satisfied that sweet tooth without going crazy on carbs with a healthy chocolate protein shake.
1. 1 cup of unsweetened Almond Milk
2. Half a cup of ice
3. 2 scoops of Organic Protein (I got this from Costco)
4. A teaspoon of Chia seeds (again, purchased from Costco)
5. A sprinkle of Goji berries on top
Blend ingredients 1-4 and sprinkle with Goji Berries and enjoy (Noosheh jan konid)! I usually add a handful of spinach as well, but I forgot today 🙂

- 1 cup quinoa (I used 1/2 cup of regular quinoa and 1/2 cup of red quinoa)
- 2 cups water
- 6 dry apricots cut into small pieces
- 1/2 cup dry currants
- 1/2 cup diced yellow, orange, or red peppers
- Half a red onion diced
- Chopped Parsley
- Lemon juice
- Olive Oil
- 1/4 teaspoon Coriander
- 1/4 teaspoon Cumin
- Salt & Pepper to taste
Rinse and cook quinoa according to package. Drain excess water, allow to cool, and toss with chopped ingredients and vinaigrette. Enjoy (Noosheh jan)!
